People tend to think that a spa is not the right kind of place for children and this is even more true for something like spa hotels but I do not feel you need to keep kids out if you are watching them. So what are the dangers of actually not looking at your child during your time around a spa.
Well it would seem that the main danger is the same kind of danger for pools too and that means it is sadly drowning. There have been nearly a thousand deaths in hot tubs since 1980 due to people drowning and many of these have been children and this has happened because the parents are not paying them any attention.
Getting the hair tangled up doesn’t sound like a problem but it is the second cause for all deaths in the spa. Now you may not think that this is actually a major issue but the thing is kids will often have their hair sucked into the fitting of a hot tub which of course causes the victims head to be held under water without the ability for them to pull up again. Now many adults have been able to get out of this because they have not panicked but children will panic and could face death.
Temperature is next on the list and you must always check the temperature of your hot tub and although the temperature may seem fine to you for your kids it could be too high. Although it will not burn them in any way it would seem that high temperatures can cause drowsiness which then of course leads to unconsciousness and then drowning.
It is important to note that if you are thinking of taking a child to Dubai spa holidays or even Europe spa holidays that you must get a note from the doctor saying that they are allowed to go and the same goes for a pregnant lady.

Many people feel that walking holidays are for the older people and the younger couples that wish to feel a lot closer by going on something like this but it is not true at all and walking holidays can be enjoyed by the entire family.
Kids love the outdoors at least mine ones do and they simply jumped at the chance to go on one of these holidays because they had not been to the location that we were planning on visiting. We had decided to jet off on one of those Costa Rica holidays really just because we thought we would have a change.
The great thing about walking holidays is that there isn’t a piece of technology in site which means you can get the kids away from their consoles and that TV and get them out experiencing the wonders of life. In my case I have to say that I am also a gamer and spend a lot of time in front of the screen and when I am not working in front of a computer I am sitting at home in front of one or at the very least in front of a screen.
Active holidays are really a good way to get away from the stresses of life and as soon as you are in the big outdoors you just know that you have done the correct thing in staying out there. You get to really see the wonders of life with me and my wife always getting up early in the mornings to see the sunrise together whilst the kids were still resting from the previous day of walking.
All in all it would certainly seem that my kids loved the trip and they cannot wait to go back again. I will have to wait until next year as I have promised them a trip to Disney this year.

Most kids and teenagers are always locked in their room after school, either playing on their PS3, XBOX or WII. They are either on their computer games or the Internet or listening to music. I haven’t seen a teenager who spends few hours with his or her family after school. Either it’s the kids who straight away go to the room or the parents are always asking them to do their homework first and from that they never come down other than to eat their dinner. When this happens it grows up them and they spend less and less time with their family on their days off from school and this means the relationship between the parents and the kids can be falling apart.
I did a questionnaire research in my school few months ago asking kids on what they would like to do on their holidays. You would be surprised to know that they would rather go on luxury cruises with their parents other than doing the same thing over and over again which is visit their relatives. Hey don’t blame me, it was the kids who said it. Then the other question was raised on where they would like to go on a cruise? Most of them said they would love to go on a royal Caribbean cruises and few said Holland American line cruises. It is amazing isn’t it, I bet you never thought your kid will come up with that answer. I have certainly realized that kids nowadays are far more intelligent than before.
So parents take your kids on a cruising holiday this summer. This way you can bring your family close together so don’t look at it as a holiday. Going on a cruise will help you bond with your family even closer. Normally these trips also help you learn a lot about eachother which is why it’s great for families.

Now that Spring is within sight that means it must be time I looked at sorting out my Summer holiday. We normally tend to either travel to Florida or Spain.
Last summer we all enjoyed the delights that Florida has on offer, so this year we are heading back to Spain. They are 2 very different holidays. Florida is action packed and very busy, whereas Spain is 2 weeks of lying by the pool and venturing out in the evening for a nice meal.
This year it is going to be very strange as it will be the first time my son hasn't travelled with us on holiday. He has decided to go back to Florida with his girlfriend!
We will all miss him, especially my teenage daughter. In previous holidays it wouldn't be unusual for the pair of them to spend the entire day messing about in the swimming pool. We always take the lilos, rubber rings, splat balls etc. Last time I took some water bombs with us and I will admit that we had great fun using them.
This year I suppose it will be upto hubby and I to try and keep our daughter busy. Mind you it's not that big a problem because hubby turns into the biggest kid of all when we are on holiday!!
Much as I love messing about around the pool, the evenings are the time I love the most. It gives me a good reason to glam up and wear all the new clothes I have bought for summer.
Usually there are so many restaurants to choose from that we have the normal arguments about who wants to eat what and end up wandering around for ages trying to decide.
Personally speaking give me a Comida Mexicana restaurant (Mexican to you and I). Hubby really loves his steaks, so he is pretty well catered for at any restaurant. My daughter loves her pizza, but never tries anything other than Margarita!!
Last time we were in Spain we even took advantage of a new food delivery service from one of the local Spanish restaurants. Food delivery in Spanish is known as Comida a domicilio, so watch out for that next time you are on holiday.

My daughter has been a member of her local cheerleading team for a few years now and she absolutely loves it. She has entered lots of competitions with her cheerleading troupe and to be fair although they have done really well, first place still evades them. They have managed a second and third place at a few competitions, so that is pretty good considering they are still a fairly new team.
She thinks that perhaps the reason for them not quite reaching first place is because a lot of the other teams who compete and score well also attend dancing groups, so their dancing skills are absolutely fantastic.
She thinks her cheerleading group could all benefit from attending some dance lessons and therefore improving their dance skills and that just might give them a bit of an edge at the competitions.
She is also already talking about the possibility of dancing holidays for the group, where they can go away for a weekend and literally learn to dance. She is very similar to me and when she gets an idea in her head, she doesn’t let it slip!!
Saying all that though, I do think it sounds like a great idea because their gymnastics and cheerleading are already brilliant, I just think that sometimes their dancing lets them down.
Currently the team consists of coming upto 40 girls and just 1 boy and when they are all out on the floor together, some of them really are a tad un-coordinated.
Later this year they already have entered some pretty large competitions, and already they are upping their practice sessions. I think it’s great to see kids actually wanting to do well at their chosen sport and putting so much time and effort in.
I must say that with all the competitions the team enter and the uniforms we have to buy, accommodation costs, travel costs, etc. cheerleading is quite an expensive sport. I musn’t grumble though as my daughter really enjoys taking part, so that is all that matters to me.

We have always lived here in the South where we get almost no snow, but I love winter time and I want a winter with snow. That’s why we choose to take a vacation to some place snowy. We really didn’t care where we went as long as there was snow and hot tubs. While doing some online research looking for vacation destinations I saw Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We packed up and headed to Tennessee and everyone loved it.
The quickest way to look for vacation destinations is on the internet. You may find yourself surprised when you see all the deals they have. You will run across several vacation package deals that come with accommodations, food, and even travel sometimes. Before you book the accommodations you might want to decide if you will want a hotel, chalet, condo, or cabin. It will depend on where you take your trip as to which types of accommodations they have.
While in Tennessee we loved the cabin we rented it was amazing. After a long day we would all put our sleepwear on so we could lounge on the floor in front of the beautiful fireplace. We just simply laid there together talking and sharing old stories. If you don’t plan to vacation somewhere cold then you will have to figure out another way to get family time in since you wont be using a fireplace.
Once the kids started drifting off to sleep in front of the fireplace, we would cover them over with a blanket and then climb on the sofa together and read a couple of suspense books. I prefer the more action type suspense while my wife reads the more romantic suspense type books. This trip did a great thing for my family, it brought us back together again if only for a little while.
If you are the parents of teens or grown kids then you already know that they prefer to go off with friends and just hang with them. When you hardly ever see your kids anymore it is time to take a family vacation. It will bring your family together once again but it may not last after the vacation. Having any time with the kids is great.
After choosing a destination and booking the accommodations there is still one more thing you will want to do. Take a little time to do research to find activities for the whole family. We all wanted to ski but we needed to learn first, so I found a website online and found a ski instructor that was willing to teach us all.
No matter what equipment you need for your activity they will probably have a place you could buy it there. We ended up buying every person their very own ski helmet that way they can take it back home with them sort of like a souvenir. We did however have to rent the other equipment. Trust me on this it should not matter what you do or where you go because as long as your with family that is all that matters.

This term my daughter has been assigned a project at school and her topic is facts and trivia relating to Wales.
The first thing I thought was how boring, why couldn’t she have gone for somewhere more exotic than Wales. To be fair though, she has uncovered a few interesting facts along the way.
For instance, the name of Wales actually originates from the Cymraeg word of Gwalia, which translated means “Homeland”.
Wales is actually quite a small country and to the east is bordered by England with the remainder of the country being surrounded by water. To the south is the Bristol Channel, with St. George’s Channel to the west and finally the Irish Sea to the north.
There have been many fine actors who have been born in Wales, including Sir Anthony Hopkins, the very fine Richard Burton and the beautiful Catherine Zeta Jones.
Of course Catherine has escaped Wales for the delights of the USA, but she often pops back and stays at Hotels in Wales. She has also been known for her Self Catering Wales escapades when she visits her family.
Catherine however doesn’t just stay in Wales, she also enjoys her UK Family Holidays with her celebrity husband and her 2 children. It’s also been know for Catherine and her family to pop into a local pub for their lunch and have a chat with all the locals.
I deviate a bit and have come off the subject. This must be something that runs in our family as it would seem that my daughter has problems with this as well.
She has a wonderful imagination, but unfortunately when she is writing any stories or essays, she really goes off the subject and loses the theme of her story.
Funnily enough, only last week her English teacher had severe words with her about the standard of some of her work.Things seem to have altered since my school days but a vivid imagination was certainly something that was encouraged and not quashed.
My next instalment on the joys of Wales will follow as soon as my daughter decides to get on with the work she should be doing. At the moment though she is happily working on a short story about slaying dragons, probably because she has just drawn a picture of the Welsh flag and she has gone off on one of her adventures!!
